Veganism is generally considered to be the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals. An individual who follows the diet or philosophy is known as a vegan.
The Vegan Society’s Grant Programme aims to introduce the concept and ideals of veganism to people who may not have encountered them before. Applications can be made by not-for-profit organisations based in any part of the world, with a focus on:
o Supporting marginalised and under-represented groups in nations that are developing their economy to access veganism.
o New and innovative projects.
o Promoting veganism and introduce sustainable ways of going vegan, in particular by raising public awareness of veganism in a positive way, and
o Promoting veganism in a unique or exciting way to non-vegans
Grant awards tend to be for up to £1,000 with no matched funding requirement.
Previously funded projects have included:
o Establishing a Vegan Food Bank in Bath, and
o An art exhibition with a focus on veganism.
Funding is not available for:
o Core operational or running costs.
o Projects or events which charge people to attend, or
o Projects which replicate the work the Vegan Society is already undertaking.
