The Three Monkies Trust was founded by Nigel Higgins, Chair of Barclays plc, and his wife, the architect Sanya Polescuk, in 2015.
The Trust provides grants for small to medium sized charities with an annual income of £500,000 or less that are operating primarily in England and Wales.
The Trust focuses its grant-making on the following three areas:
1. Promoting the advancement and accessibility of music and the arts.
2. Helping children and young people under the age of 25, and
3. Supporting London-based charities to provide accommodation for key workers.
During the year ending 31st March 2023, the Trust allocated grants totalling £418,550 (2022: £296,100; 2021: £279,950). These were categorised as:
o Music and Arts: £382,750
o Children and Young People: £35,800
o Other: £0
To apply applicants should provide a short document of no more than between 2-5 pages covering the following:
o A brief description of the organisation including its current priorities and main activities, and
o A brief description of the project for which funds are being sought covering:
> What funds are being sought from Three Monkies and what funds will be used for.
> Demonstrable a link to the organisation’s priorities and to Three Monkies’ key areas of interest
> The rationale for the project and the target beneficiaries.
> What the project aims to achieve.
> What the applicant hopes to achieve as a result of undertaking the project.
> The project time frame.
> The budget for the project and the funding already secured (if appropriate).
> Information about the sustainability of the project and/or its legacy.

Next deadline is Friday 31st May 2024. Applications will be reviewed in June/July and applicants notified by the end of September 2024.
There is one further application round this year. Applications received by Saturday 30th November 2024 will be reviewed in December 2024/January 2025 and applicants notified by the end of February 2025.
