THE SIR JULES THORN CHARITABLE TRUST AND THE ANN RYLANDS SMALL DONATIONS PROGRAMME

Grants of up to £5,000 towards the core costs of UK hospices, and grants of up to £1,500 for UK registered charities working with the elderly, people facing physical and/or mental health challenges, social exclusion, homelessness, disability and/or serious health issues, as well as families and carers.

o Who can apply: UK registered charities with an annual income of between £50,000 and £2,000,000.

The Sir Jules Thorn Charitable Trust provides grants of up to £5,000 for small to medium sized registered charities across the UK that are working to provide support and services for:

o Older people.
o People facing challenges with mental health, social exclusion or homelessness.
o People needing palliative and end of life care, 
and
o People with disabilities or living with serious illness.

The Trust has been a great supporter of hospices over the years, particularly through its Hospice Fund , but in fact supports a much broader range of charitable causes through its Ann Rylands Small Donations programme .

Hospice Grants, including care at home services, tend to be for £5,000, while awards made through the Ann Rylands Small Donations programme are normally for up to £1,500. There is no specific requirement for matched funding.

Funding is not available for:

o Charities that have been registered in the UK for less than two years.
o Charities which have fee reserves equivalent to 12 months or more of annual expenditure.
o Charities which have received funding from the Trust within the previous 12 months.
o Charities whose annual income is under £50,000 or exceeds £2 million.
o Charities who have applied to the Trust within the last 12 months.
o Charities whose operational area is outside the UK.
o Community Interest Companies (CICs).
o Individuals or community groups which are not registered charities within the UK.
o Organisations which work principally to support members of a particular faith community or whose charitable objects refer to a particular faith, 
or
o Village and community halls, uniformed groups (such as Scouts and Guides), carnivals and arts festivals, ammonising charities (for example, those that give grants to others) and charities that are engaged in political activism.
