Dorset-based the Prowting Charitable Foundation is a small grant-making charity that has recently moved away from ad hoc applications to a formal application process, as part of which completion of a Pre-Application Form is encouraged.
Applicants must be a UK registered charity with a proven track record that has been registered with the UK Charity Commission for at least 3 years and can provide their most recent set of accounts.
The Foundation’s main areas of interest are:
o The wellbeing of dogs and horses.
o The treatment, rehabilitation, and general care of injured jockeys, and
o The support and or research into the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer, heart conditions, dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
The Foundation will only consider making a grant towards projects where:
o The grant will be applied to further one or more specific projects.
o The research funded is likely to yield practical benefits.
o The grant will be used to fund something tangible such as equipment or infrastructure, and
o The grant will not be used to fund general running costs and administration.
Grants normally range between £5,000 and £10,000.
Some examples of previously supported projects can be found on the Foundation’s website.
All grant proposals must be made via the Foundation’s website, preferably through a Pre-Application Enquiry Form, where further criteria is set out.
Applicants are advised to contact the Foundation’s administrator, Katie Roberts, if they have any queries regarding eligibility and/or require assistance with the application process.
The Foundation’s trustees meet twice per year to consider applications and decisions can take up to 5 months from the date of submission.
