The Peter Stormonth Charitable Trust has the scope to make donations to any charitable body, association or organisation in the UK (where most of its funding is directed) or worldwide at the discretion of its trustees, with a particular emphasis on:
o Culture.
o Education.
o Healthcare.
o Heritage and conservation
o Medical research.
o Sports facilities, and
o Support for Armed Forces Veteran’s.
The Trust’s policy is to give grants only to recognised national charities and to local charities of which the trustees have first-hand knowledge that they are properly and efficiently managed,
During the year ended 31st December 2022, the Trust awarded 32 grants totalling £279,745 (2021: 32 grant totalling £284,877).
Awards were a mixture of new and repeat grants, mostly ranging from £2,500 to £25,000 with the occasional higher award. The majority of grants made were in the range £5,000 to £10,000. The Trust's grant-making pattern suggests a preference for charities based and operating in and around London, although this isn't exclusive as indicated by the featured grant recipient at the foot of this article.
9 grants were awarded to heritage causes, 11 to educational causes and a further 12 to healthcare and sporting facilities.
Please note that the Trust does not have a website. Further information is, however, available on the Charity Commission website.
Trustees meet twice a year to review requests for grant support. Due to the heavy demand on its limited resources, the Trust is unable to guarantee a response to all unsolicited approaches, whether written or by email.
Applications should be made at any time in writing.
