THE NATURESAVE TRUST - river pollution crisis

Grants of between £500 and £5,000 are available to UK community organisations who are working to tackle the pollution crisis that is affecting our rivers and shores across the UK.

Totnes, Devon-based the Naturesave Trust, is the charitable arm of Naturesave Insurance, which – among other services – provides insurance for charities and not-for profit organisations. The Trust  was formed to promote and encourage the protection, preservation and improvement of the environment for the benefit of the public, in particular by encouraging the greater adoption of sustainable development through the funding of specific environment and conservation projects.

The theme of the current funding window, which is open until Friday30th June 2023, is River and Shoreline Pollution. 

The Naturesave Trust will be looking to support community groups who are working to tackle the pollution crisis that is affecting our rivers and shores across the UK. The Trust states that “These environments are vital diverse ecosystems, whose aquatic life urgently needs protecting and conserving. Our rivers and shorelines also provide a priceless natural resource, that benefits our health and wellbeing through activities that range from swimming, boating, canoeing and fishing to birdwatching.

“As an island nation we have some of the most beautiful beaches going, which along with almost 75,000 miles of waterways, need our help. The Naturesave Trust hope to play our small part in helping communities protect these undervalued natural assets”.

Eligible organisations must:

1. Be based in the UK, and
2. Have a social media presence.

The Naturesave Trust is a modest grant-making charity that makes a limited number of grant awards each year. During the tear ended 31st August 2023, the Trust made grants and donations totalling £27,828 (2020: 21,530).

Grants of between £500 and £5,000 are available to UK registered charities, small grassroots community organisations and social enterprises. Businesses may also apply for a grant.

Some examples of previously supported projects are available on the Trust's website.

Funding is not available for:

o Individuals.
o Projects not based in the UK.
o Research projects.
o Staff costs, or
o Schools or educational establishments.

The deadline for applications to the River and Shoreline Pollution themed round is Friday 30th June 2023.
