THE HUBBUB FOUNDATION AND STARBUCKS THE EAT IT UP FUND: A NEW FUND TO TACKLE FOOD WASTE – One-off revenue and capital grants of up to £40,000

One-off revenue and capital grants of up to £40,000 are available to a wide range of UK organisations, including registered charities, Community Interest Companies, local authorities and schools, for innovative projects that address food waste in the UK.

o Application deadline: FRIDAY 21st JULY 2023 at 5pm for Expressions of Interest. A Questions and Answer webinar has been scheduled for 10:30-11:15am on Monday 3rd July 2023 for organisations that would like to find out more about the fund. o Funders: Hubbub and Starbucks (Hubbub UK: founded 2014. Charity number 1158700. Total charitable expenditure during the year ended 31 October 2021: £4,274,279).

o Who can apply: UK registered charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), other forms of social enterprise, local authorities, schools, colleges, universities, micro and small businesses with a social purpose. Partnership applications are welcomed.

The Eat it Up Fund is a new £200,000 partnership grant programme from the Hubbub Foundation UK and speciality coffee business, Starbucks, which has 32,000 retail outlets in 80 countries across the world

The Fund will provide one-off grants for projects that offer innovative solutions to the following challenges.

o Address pre-farmgate waste.
o Find creative ways to use surplus food in communities or at home.
o Minimise food waste from retailers, 
and/or
o Prevent food from being wasted at the manufacturing and processing stage. 

Revenue and capital grants of up to £40,000 are available. Grants must be used within 12 months of confirmation of an award.

Grants can be used for capital expenditure, salaries, and marketing and promotion. Grants cannot be used to cover core operational costs.

The funding timetable is as follows:

1. Open for expressions of interest: 9am, Monday 19th June 2023.
2. Deadline for expressions of interest: 5pm, Friday 21st July 2023.
3. Open for full applications (those invited to apply): 9am, Monday 14th August 2023.
4. Deadline for full applications: 5pm, Friday 22nd September 2023.
5. Successful applicants informed: October 2023.
6. Winners announced publicly: End of 2023.
