The Fore Trust ("The Fore") offers unrestricted grants of up to £30,000 spread over 1-3 years which have the potential to have a transformational impact on an organisation. Unlike many funders, The Fore does not fund project-based work, but looks to make grants that will strengthen organisations for the longer term. Funding might, for example, help organisations:
o Grow or scale up their work.
o Increase their internal capacity.
o Serve new beneficiary groups, or
o Become more sustainable and efficient.
The Fore particularly encourages applications from small organisations working with marginalised groups and led by people in the community that may have found it hard to access Trust and Foundation funding in the past. The Trust’s funding process is specifically designed to level the playing field and give no advantage to those with fundraising experience or connections.
Grants of up to £30,000 over 3 years are available, with no matched funding requirement, to any UK registered charity, Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), Community Interest Company (CIC) or Community Benefit Society with an income of under £500,000 during their last completed financial year.
A number of case studies of previously funded agencies can be found on the Trust's website.
To apply for funding, organisations must first register some basic contact details with the Trust. This can be done via a link which appears below the webinar video on its website, which is only made available when the funding round is open. Please note that you cannot see the link if registration is closed.
The number of registrations accepted for each round is capped to ensure the Trust is able to give every application the attention it deserves.
Registration is operated on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Once the cap is reached, the round is closed, so please register as early as you can. Registration opens at midday (12pm) on Wednesday 6th December 2023 and normally closes within 2-3 hours of opening. The Trust advises applicants to wait until they have successfully registered before preparing an application document. Applicants are given 3-4 weeks to do this between registration and the application deadline.
Further information, guidance, an Eligibility Quiz and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are available on The Fore website, which also includes a webinar on how to prepare the best possible grant application (scroll down to the bottom the page).
