The Civic Power Fund Community Actions Fund is designed to support smaller grassroots campaigning and community organising in the UK. Applying organisations must have an annual turnover of under £250,000. The Community Action Fund will prioritise organisations led by people with lived experience of the injustice(s) they are trying to overcome.
Grants of between £2,500 and £20,000 are available to UK grassroots organisations that are building the power of their community and campaigning for long-term change, particularly around social justice and inclusion. Grants are intended to enable groups to win change through:
o Community organising.
o Power-sharing.
o Campaigning, and
o Democratic engagement.
The Community Action Fund is open to UK-based organisations that are:
1. Rooted in and accountable to their community.
2. Hoping to achieve long-term change on issues affecting the lives of their community.
3. Addressing injustice by building the power of their community. For example, through community organising, campaigning, or democratic engagement.
4. Lacking the resources to take their vision to the next level, and
5. Seeking to build a larger us and resisting the politics of division.
Before submitting an application, applicants are required to answer a short questionnaire to confirm it is in the programme’s scope (applicants are strongly advised to read the Fund’s ‘What’s in Scope’ webpage before completing the questionnaire).
The questionnaire includes a checklist of yes or no questions. It also includes four questions where applicants can share a few bullet points or a short video to tell us a bit more about your work.
To be eligible for funding applicants must complete the questionnaire by Sunday 26th February 2023. The Civic Power Fund team will review submissions on a rolling basis to confirm whether applying organisations are in scope.
Further information, guidance, definitions of the Fund’s interpretation of democracy, power, lived experience, justice, grassroots and community, together with access to the eligibility questionnaire is available on the Fund’s website.
