Sustain’s Food for the Planet Small Grants programme is currently open to applications from any local food partnership, local authority or community group in the UK to support communities to campaign and advocate to make food in their area better for people and the planet.
Grants up to £5,000 are available to deliver projects which support communities to address food and climate injustice in their local areas.
Activities could, for example, include (please note that this is not an exclusive list):
o Divesting from industrial agriculture.
o Encouraging and celebrating climate-friendly food in public institutions and council settings.
o Growing more sustainable and healthy food, especially in urban fringes.
o Supporting groups and communities that are marginalised to campaign for food climate justice and tackling racial injustice in the food system, and/or
o Tackling unfair and unhelpful pricing and advertising of the most climate-damaging foods.
Further information, guidelines and an application form is available of the Sustain website.
An information workshop is scheduled for between 11am and 12 noon on Monday 14 March 2022 for not-for-profit organisations and local authorities that would like to find out more about the programme. Registration can be made at this LINK to Eventbrite.
The application deadline for the Food for the Planet Small Grants programme is Friday 15 April 2022 at 5pm.
