Youth volunteering opportunities with the Welsh Centre for International Affairs

The Welsh Centre for International Affairs (WCIA) is a registered charity that inspires people in Wales to learn about and act on global issues, so everyone in Wales can contribute to creating a fairer and more peaceful world. Based in Cardiff, but working across Wales to support people to develop as active global citizens so they can work individually or collectively in organisations in Wales and with international partners, to make the world a better place.

We believe that everyone has a contribution to make through active global citizenship and we work with schools, youth work organisations, other charities and the public sector to provide opportunities to make a difference, through workshops, debating forum, policy initiatives and local and international volunteering placements. Amidst global political uncertainty, the rise of populism, record numbers of refugees around the world and a climate crisis, it is more important than ever to motivate the next generation of internationalists so that they can make sure Wales continues to have a positive impact on the global challenges we all face.

With regards to our volunteering opportunities they fall broadly within 2 types.  Workcamps, which are normally 2 weeks long, in which around 20 young people from various nations come together, live and work on a singular project.  And mid/long term projects which vary from 1-12 months, and see the volunteering embedded within an organisation.

Funded placements. - Available to young people aged 16-25 and living in Wales.

Find links below  to all of the ongoing Taith funded placements for international exchange

Please find below a link to our fully funded voluntary placements as well as our search engine for self funded placements. As well as a link to our search engine.  This is a database of all of our partners' placements that are available for young people to take part in.  When it comes to allocating Taith funding for the shorter workcamp format, we have the capacity to send young people on a 2 week workcamp of their choosing provided that it's within Europe and has an administration fee of £299 (this is the minimum fee for a workcamp placement).  If you have any young people who you feel you be interested in this shorter exchange, I would recommend getting in touch with us first so that we can go through what options are available based on that individual's preferences etc.
