Traumatic Experiences of Child Refugees - How how history can help us understand the plight facing young refugees today

An online session via Teams presented by Dr Andrea Hammel, Reader in German / Director, Centre for the Movement of People (CMOP), Aberystwyth University

On Thursday 22nd June 2023, between 2pm – 3pm: how history can help us understand the plight facing young refugees today

This event will focus on how events from the past have shaped our understanding of the current plight refugee children and young people face across the globe. Dr Andrea Hammel co-curated the highly acclaimed exhibition ‘Refugees from National Socialism in Wales: learning from the past for the future’  along with and Dr Morris Brodie from Aberystwyth University’s Centre for the Movement of People, together with refugees and those who are assisting refugees with resettlement in Wales, showcasing the stories of refugees in Wales from the past and present. The exhibition recently toured across Wales including Aberystwyth Arts Centre, The Senedd and Pierhead Galleries in Cardiff and it’s currently on display at the Palace of Westminster, before moving to the Pontio in Bangor next month.
