The Petitions Committee has published a report looking at the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on new parents. The report calls on the government to publish a dedicated Covid-19 recovery strategy to safeguard the wellbeing of new and expectant parents and their children, and makes recommendations which include: providing additional funding and resources to allow catch-up mental health support for new parents; and funding local authorities in order to arrange in-person visits to new parents by the appropriate local authority, voluntary organisation, or health visiting staff by the end of the year.
