The Ministry of Justice has announced that the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Act 2022 will come into force on 27 February 2023. On implementation, the Act will raise the age of marriage and civil partnership in England and Wales from 16 to 18, making it an offence to cause a child under the age of 18 to enter a marriage in any circumstances.
