Institute of Health Equity report on the effect of fuel poverty and cold homes on children and young people

The report sets out the health impacts of living in fuel poverty on children and young people. Findings from a review of collated research includes: 28% of young people living in cold homes were found to have four or more negative mental health symptoms, compared with 4% of young people who had always lived in warm homes.

10% of children living in cold homes felt unhappy in their family, compared with 2% of the group living in warm homes. Recommendations include targeting advice services and housing improvements and using urban regeneration to reduce fuel poverty.
