The American Psychological Association (APA) has published a report on the effects of social media use on adolescents. The report explores the potential benefits and harms of social media. Recommendations include: social media should be tailored to young people’s developmental capabilities; adolescents’ exposure to harmful online content should be minimized; and adolescents should receive training in social media literacy.
