Childcare and Playwork Community Mentors wanted

The Welsh Government is seeking to appoint people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities with experience of the impact of racism in childcare and playwork as community mentors.

The roles will support the Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan (ARWAP), which sets out goals and actions to adopt an anti-racist approach in the childcare and playwork sectors.

Applications are invited from people who are either a current or former part of the childcare and playwork workforce in Wales, or a parent/carer of a child using childcare or play services. Community mentors may also be academics, consultants, experienced policy officials from local government or the voluntary or private sector, or experienced community workers in one of the policy areas.

The Welsh Government is looking to appoint up to 10 people, who will be paid for consultancy services for 15 working days (120 hours) to March 2024. There will be an option to extend the appointment for one or two years.

Closing date for applications: 6 April 2023.
