Volunteers needed to represent our locality networks

We are currently looking for a volunteers to represent our locality network on the Social Value Forum Coordination Group for Llandrindod Wells & Rhayader, Ystradgynlais, Llanidloes and Knighton & Presteigne areas.

Attendance from the 13 locality networks at the Coordination Group is very important as this is an opportunity to influence where funding is focused as well as to ensure the voice of the locality is heard.

The Social Value Forum Coordination Group meet twice a year to bring together the information on unmet need in Powys and identify which issues will be targeted with funding provided by the Regional Partnership Board (RPB).

What is a Locality Representative?

This is a person who represents the interests of the whole Locality Network through attending the Coordination Group of the Social Value Forum. This group is Powys wide and meets twice a year (typically January/February – in person, and September on a virtual meeting. These dates are subject to change). Our next meeting is 25th September 2025 online.

Who decides who are the Locality Representatives?

Each Locality Network is free to decide themselves how they elect/appoint a representative.

What do they actually do?

– Attend the 4 locality network meetings (1 per quarter)

– Attend 2 coordination group meetings – one in person, one online

– Represent the interests of their locality at those meetings

– The locality representative is entitled to vote on which priorities should be applied to the Social Value Forum Development Fund for the coming year

– The decision is based on evidence presented to that meeting which has been gathered at all Powys Localities highlighting the current gaps in provision in Health and Care in Powys.

– Feedback to their Locality meeting what is happening in the Social Value Forum including what has been funded as well as any additional information/good practice picked up from  the coordination group.

The Social Value Forum is a bottom up organisation that tries to ensure that it is the community making decisions about the needs of the community rather than having decisions imposed from above. This is why the role of the Locality Representative is such an important one – they can ensure that the voice of all the groups who attend the Network meetings is heard right where the decisions are made.

Should you be interested or have any queries about the role, would benefit from a phone or video call, please do feel free to get in contact directly: louise.hardwick@pavo.org.uk  or 01597 822191.
