Have your say: Welsh Government consultation on the Local Growth Fund

The Welsh Government is developing a three-year investment plan that will be delivered through the new Local Growth Fund. This fund will replace the Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) in Wales.

The Local Growth Fund will bring £547 million of UK Government investment to Wales over the next three years. For the first time since leaving the EU, the Welsh Government will decide how these funds are used to support regional economic development.

The consultation document reflects the key objectives for the funding: boosting productivity and reducing economic inequalities. It aligns with both the Welsh Government’s Economic Mission and the UK Government’s Growth Mission.

The consultation focuses on four priority areas:

  • Building more productive and competitive businesses
  • Supporting people into work and improving skills
  • Developing green infrastructure and energy
  • Strengthening local infrastructure to drive regional economies

It also seeks input on how the fund should be delivered at national, regional, and local levels, and how the transition from the Shared Prosperity Fund should be managed.

You can read the consultation document and submit a response here: https://www.gov.wales/proposals-approach-uk-local-growth-fund-wales

We are preparing a response to the consultation on behalf of Powys Third Sector and we’d love to hear your views. Join our online session on 10th December, 6 – 7:30pm, where we will also guide you through the consultation documents. Find out more and book your place

We would encourage organisations to submit a response.  Please be aware there is a very tight deadline, as the consultation closes on 19 December 2025.
