Baromedr Cymru is the bilingual quarterly survey for the voluntary sector in Wales, delivered by WCVA and the VCSE Data and Insights Observatory at Nottingham Trent University.

In Focus: Relationships with government and the changing political context in Wales

In Wave 3, we want to understand organisations’ relationships with different levels of Welsh Government. We want to know your views, experiences, priorities, expectations, and concerns for the next 12 months, with a particular focus on the Senedd elections held in May 2026.

We are also building a repeatable baseline to assess over time whether voluntary organisations feel that different levels of Welsh Government are behaving in ways that reflect the Covenant principles.

  • Your relationships with the Welsh government, regional bodies, and local authorities in practice.
  • To what extent do these relationships reflect Covenant principles.
  • Your organisation’s priorities, expectations, and concerns for the year ahead.

Why your input matters

Your contribution will help create a clearer picture of how the sector in Wales is performing, shaping national discussions on funding, investment, and support for voluntary organisations of all sizes.

If you take part, you’ll receive:

  • A short Insight Report to help you sense-check your experience against the wider picture
  • Access to a bilingual dashboard which helps make sense of the findings
  • An invitation to a free webinar exploring the findings and practical implications

Every Response Counts

Whether your organisation is large or small, your voice will help build a stronger, more evidence-based future for the voluntary sector in Wales.

Submit your response by Friday 29 May to ensure your organisation’s voice is heard.

If you have any questions, please contact us at VCSEObservatory@ntu.ac.uk  or policy@wcva.cymru.
