__________
The Linder Foundation, formerly known as the Enid Linder Foundation, supports a wide variety of charities with causes ranging from medical electives, hospices and young people, to environment and the arts.
The Foundation seeks to provide funding to areas in which genuine social change can be brought about. The trustees strongly believe in nurturing the emotional and educational development of young people, encouraging applications from organisations aiming to enhance the skills and career prospects of those with little support, whether through therapy, mentoring or educational programmes.
Grants are also provided to projects which address the harmful effects of human activity on the environment, preserving the natural world for the benefit of society as well as for local wildlife.
The Foundation has 5 funding priorities. Grants for hospices, medical electives and the arts are by invitation only. However, grants are currently available in the following 2 categories:
1. The Environment – the Foundation especially interested in charities whose work is centred around protecting and enhancing the natural world. Trustees are looking to support projects which:
o Focus on land-based projects relating to biodiversity, such as sustainable farming practices, and/or species preservation/re-introduction.
o Are locally or regionally based.
o Can be rural or urban.
Could contain a research element that seeks to provide the evidence base for change and has the potential to be scaled up, and
o Involve volunteers and/or community engagement.
2. Young People – the Foundation supports projects that aim to improve outcomes for vulnerable young people, particularly those who have suffered from Adverse Childhood Experiences and childhood trauma. Priority will be given to projects that:
o Provide early intervention and rehabilitation designed to prevent offending or re-offending; and/or
o Aim to strengthen families and keep children out of care.
During the year ended 31st March 2024, the Foundation awarded 32 grants totalling £434,734 (2023: 25 grants totalling £447,106; 2022: 37 grants totalling £493,741).
Details of all grant recipients over the last two years can be found on pages 17-18 of the Foundation’s annual accounts.
Further information, guidance and an online application form is available on the Foundation’s website.
Applications may be made at any time, initially by completing the Eligibility Checker on the Foundation’s website. Applicants that successfully pass the Eligibility Checker stage will be directed to an Expression of Interest Form. Applicants submitting projects of
interest will then be invited to submit a full application form which will be taken to the following Trustee meeting.
