The Geoff and Fiona Squire Foundation is a family-based grant-making charity. It has just three trustees: Geoff Squire, Fiona Squire and Mr B Peerless, who is a trustee of 8 other charities, several of which also award grants, namely:
o THE BLACKFORD CHARITABLE TRUST (charity number: 262958) – awards grants for such charitable purposes as the Trustees in their absolute discretion may select and determine.
o THE R & CH CHARITABLE TRUST (charity number: 1088251) – makes donations as decided by the trustees.
o THE MACKINTOSH FOUNDATION (charity number: 327751 – grants to promote and develop theatrical, musical and dramatic arts; relieve suffering from and promote research into the causes & treatment of AIDS/Cancer; provide for medical research generally and relief of sickness; relief for the homeless and poverty stricken; promotion of the conservation, protection and enhancement in the UK of nature and the amenities of the countryside including areas of natural beauty.
o THE MARTIN SMITH FOUNDATION (charity number: 1150753) – the charity’s aim is to be charitable in any part of the world and in particular the performing arts, education, ecology and the environment, recreational sport, the relief of poverty and religion.
o THE CHARLES RUSSELL SPEECHLYS FOUNDATION (charity number: 1188257) – the Charity makes grants for general charitable purposes.
The Geoff and Fiona Squire Foundation has general charitable objectives. However, it is particularly concerned with (though not exclusively) supporting smaller UK charities working in the areas of:
o Disability.
o Education.
o Medicine, and
o The welfare and healthcare of children.
Applications from any geographical area within the UK are eligible for consideration. All applications from previous grant holders are considered by the trustees on their own merits. The charity does not normally support applications from large national charities (for example, those with an annual income in excess of £10 million or with assets of £100 million or more), or charities dedicated to issues considered by the Foundation to be already well funded within the UK.
The Foundation is willing to work in partnership with other organisations to fund initiatives beyond the financial scope of a single organisation.
