The Flu vaccination campaign Powys 1st October 2026 until 28th February 2027

It is very important to get your flu vaccine every year if you are eligible. It is
one of the best ways to protect against flu.

All eligible people in Powys will be contacted by their GP practice to offer the
flu vaccine*
School aged children that attend school will receive the flu nasal spray from a
school nurse. If your child does not attend school, please make an
appointment at your GP surgery. To find out more about more about the flu
vaccine for children, please visit: https://pthb.nhs.wales/staying-healthy/immunisation-and-vaccines/school-aged-vaccinations/flu-vaccination-for-school-aged-children/

You can also receive the flu vaccination at your local community pharmacy.
Flu is more likely to be serious if you are older, pregnant or have a long-term health
condition.
Flu is caused by a virus, which is spread by coughs and sneezes. Symptoms of flu
can be mild but can also lead to more serious illnesses such as bronchitis and
pneumonia (lung infections), which may need treatment in hospital.
Flu vaccines are quick and very safe and could prevent weeks of serious illness.
