Powys Older People’s Forum
The Older People’s Forum is a network made up of older citizens (aged 60+) from across Powys. It provides a platform for older people to share their ideas and opinions on issues that affect their lives.
The forum helps shape decisions made by Powys County Council and Powys Teaching Health Board about how resources are used to benefit older people in Powys.
Forum Aims
- Ensure services meet the needs of older people
- Raise issues affecting older people in their communities
- Participate in consultations led by PCC, PTHB, the third sector, and Welsh Government
- Advise the Age Well Partnership Board on service development and delivery
- Influence policy and service design

Who Sits on the Older People’s Forum?
Older citizens (60+) from across Powys with lived experience or interest in:
- Unpaid caregiving
- Mental health and long-term conditions
- Employment in later life
- Living in care homes or sheltered housing
- Dementia
- Transport and rural access
- Sports and leisure
- Physical or sensory disabilities
- Use of Welsh language
The forum also includes:
- Statutory and voluntary sector organisations such as: Powys County Council; Powys Teaching Health Board; Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations; Age Cymru Powys; Community Catalyst Powys; Freedom Leisure; Older People’s Commissioner for Wales; Pobl

Andrew is our Health & Wellbeing Participation Officer. He supports the forum by delivering induction training, providing accessible materials, supporting members to attend meetings, and processing expense claims.
What is the time commitment?
Meeting Frequency
- At least 4 meetings per year
- Optional participation in sub-groups
- One representative from the forum joins the Age Well Partnership Board
Membership Term
- 3-year term to allow for meaningful involvement
- Additional term allowance for elected Chair or Vice Chair
