Volunteering in Powys - is it for you?

Volunteering is for everyone.  No matter your age or background - whether you’re studying, working, or retired - you can get involved and make a difference. It's all about giving your time to help others (outside of your family), and while it’s unpaid, you can get travel and other reasonable out of pocket expenses covered, depending on the organisation .

If you'd like to know more about volunteering in your local area, see the information below and reach out to your local Volunteering Delivery Partner.

You can volunteer in person or remotely, for just a few hours a week, once a month, or even for a one-off event.  As volunteers are giving their time, roles are flexible and can be based around your interests, skill set and other commitments.

However you choose to help, your time and effort will make a real impact.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering offers a wide range of benefits – not just for the people or causes you support, but for you too. It’s a great way to boost your sense of wellbeing, improve mental health, and feel a sense of purpose. Through volunteering, you can meet new people, build friendships, and enjoy socialising in a fun and meaningful environment.

It gives you the chance to make a real difference in your community, no matter how big or small the role. You’ll feel part of something bigger, connected to others through shared values and goals. Volunteering also offers the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, and even open doors to new career paths.

Whether you can give an hour a week or help out at a one-off event, every contribution counts – and every volunteer matters. Find out more about Microvolunteering
