Have your say on the future of health services in Powys
People across Powys are being encouraged to take part in a major public consultation on the future of local NHS services.
Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) will run a public consultation from 5 October 2026 to 10 January 2027 on proposals for adult physical health, adult mental health, urgent care and some diagnostic services.
The consultation has been developed in response to challenges facing health services, including increasing demand, an ageing population and workforce recruitment and retention difficulties. It focuses on how NHS services in Powys could evolve over the next 10 years and beyond to help ensure they remain safe, effective and sustainable for future generations.
No final decisions have been made about future service changes. The consultation provides an opportunity for residents, patients, carers, staff, volunteers, community groups, partner organisations and other interested individuals to review the proposals, consider the supporting evidence and share their views.
According to PTHB, all options being consulted on would retain services at all community hospital sites in Powys and include proposals to strengthen care provided in people’s homes and local communities.
There are a number of ways to take part, including:
- Reading the consultation documents and supporting information
- Completing the consultation questionnaire
- Attending a local drop-in event
- Joining an online consultation event
- Providing feedback by email
As part of the consultation, 13 locality drop-in events will be held across Powys alongside three online events.
These events will provide opportunities to learn more about the proposals, ask questions and discuss the options before submitting feedback.
Consultation materials will be available in Welsh and English, with alternative formats including British Sign Language, audio and Easy Read also available.
