Grants averaging £3,000 are available to charities, charitable organisations and individuals in the UK to promote horticulture and horticulture education, conservation of the natural environment and making gardens accessible to the general public.

The objectives of the Stanley Smith (UK) Horticultural Trust are:

o To promote horticulture.
o To promote the conservation of the physical and natural environment by promoting biological diversity.
o To promote the creation, development, preservation and maintenance of gardens accessible to the public,
 and
o The advancement of horticultural education.

During the year ended 5th April 2025, the Trust awarded grants totalling £114,219 (2024: £112,784; 2023: £96,976; 2022: £96,350; 2021: £62,957). These were categorised as follows:

o Promotion of horticulture: £7,200.
o Promoting the creation and maintenance of public gardens: £54,269.
o Advancing horticultural education: £49,750, 
and
o Promoting biological conservation and diversity: £3,000.

The Trust operates two applications each year, on 15 February and 15 August. The next two application deadlines are on:

o Sunday 15th February 2026, and
o Saturday 15th August 2026.

Over the last 12 months the Trust has introduced a website which provides further information, guidance and a downloadable application form.
