THE ENGLAND AND WALES CRICKET BOARD COUNTY GRANTS SCHEME

Grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available for affiliated cricket clubs in England and Wales to improve facilities, enhance playing opportunities for women, girls and people with a disability, and to address environmental issues (for example, by installing fittings and equipment that will save energy).

Funder: The England and Wales Cricket Board (The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the national governing body for cricket in England and Wales.Its primary role is to govern, support, and develop cricket at all levels, from grassroots to professional. While not a charity, the ECB is a not-for-profit organisation that invests any income generated through commercial activities back into the sport).
o Who can apply: Cricket Clubs in England and Wales that are affiliated to the ECB via their County Cricket Board (CCB).

The ECB’s County Grants Fund aims to support affiliated cricket clubs to create welcoming environments, provide enhanced facilities and playing opportunities, and to help clubs tackle the impact of climate change.

Grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available to:

1. Create welcoming environments – this strand is open to affiliated cricket clubs registered for All Stars, Dynamos or actively involved with women’s and girls’ competitive cricket and/or disability cricket. It is an expectation that any junior programme will include and actively engage with girls.

2. Enhance facilities and playing opportunities for women’s and girls’ cricket and or disability cricket – this strand is open to affiliated cricket clubs actively engaged in competitive female only cricket, and

3. Tackling climate change – this strand is open to any affiliated cricket clubs. Examples of the type of project that can be funded under this measure are:
o Flood Resilience.
o Drought Resilience (for example, rainwater harvesting).
o Energy Saving (for example, insulation LED lighting, solar panels, energy-efficient heating systems, double/triple glazing).
o Water Management (for example, water-saving sanitaryware, greywater recycling or purchasing more efficient appliances), and
o Electric (rather than petrol) mower or roller (maximum grant of 25% of costs only.

As a minimum, Cricket Clubs will need to have the following:

o Affiliation to the ECB via the local County Cricket Board (CCB) in England and Wales.
o A Constitution, Articles of Association or equivalent governing document.
o Valid Buildings, Contents and Public Liability Insurance.
o Security of Tenure – Leasehold, Freehold or Rental (minimum one year).
o A bank account in the Club’s name.
o Financial accounts from the Club’s last budget year.
o Club Safeguarding Officer (fully compliant on ECB Safe Hands Management System).
o Adoption of the ECB Safe Hands Policy,
 and
o Adoption of the ECB Anti-Discrimination Code of Conduct.

Funding is not available for:

o Large-scale pavilion and communal changing facility projects (over £100,000), or
o Any project already funded by an ECB/EWCT Grant or Loan.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 30th November 2025.
