LORD BARNBY’S FOUNDATION: DISCRETIONARY DONATIONS

Grants of between £500 and £12,000 (but generally averaging £2,000-£3,000) are available to UK registered charities for a diverse range of charitable causes.

Lord Barnby’s Foundation is a discretionary grant-maker, meaning that it has the ability to fund a diverse spectrum of causes.
The Foundation supports a wide range of registered charities across the UK through its Discretionary Donations scheme. Awards have previously been made to:
o Environmental causes.
o Health and medical charities.
o Hospices and hospitals.
o Museums.
o People with a disability. and
o Uniformed youth groups such as Scouts and Sea Scouts.
Grants are usually for between £500 and £12,000 (but averaging £2,000-£3,000), with no matched funding requirement.
During the year ended 31st March 2024, the Foundation awarded 93 grants totalling £271,750 (2020: 89 grants totalling £208,350).
Grants ranged from £300 to £26,750 (to Young Lives versus Cancer), with an average award of slightly under £3,000 (2023: £2,341).

Applications may be made at any time in writing and should include:
o A brief description of the organisation and project, and
o A copy of the organisation’s most recent accounts.
Applications are considered every 4 months, in February, June and November annually.
