___________
The charity Music For All is dedicated to changing lives across the UK by improving access to music making, enabling disadvantaged music makers experience the joys and far-reaching benefits of making music.
Music For All offers small grants and awards for not-for-profit organisations and schools in the UK for projects that require financial support to develop sustainable music programmes.
Small Community Project grants and awards of equipment generally tend to be up to the value of £1,500, although in Round 4 grants of up to £2,000 are available. Music for All usually has a limited grants project, so eligible organisations that are unable to secure other financial contributions to their project are likely to be prioritised.
Music For All usually changes its funding priorities for each grant round. In the current round of funding, it is seeking to support community projects that focus on the following areas:
1. Choral groups – grants of up to £2,000 are available to community groups in deprived or marginalised areas for developing music education and providing music-making opportunities to new and existing choral groups. Applicants will be required to demonstrate how music is used within their project work and provide examples of their work, as well as show how funds will be used to remove barriers to music for its participants.
2. Descant recorder pack and music pack – a limited number of awards are available to groups using entry-level descant recorders to support communities in deprived or marginalised areas in order to develop music education for those living in the area. Suitable for beginners only. There are up to 60 recorder packs to apply for in this category.
3. Physical mobility or accessibility needs – grants of up to £2,000 are available for community groups in deprived or marginalised areas to provide music-making opportunities to those with physical mobility, coordination and/or accessibility needs. Applicants will need to demonstrate how music is used within their project work and show previous examples of their work, as well as how the grant will be used to remove barriers to support music-making.
4. Working with early years aged children (0–4 years) – grants of up to £2,000 are available to community groups in deprived or marginalised areas to provide opportunities to make music with children aged between 0–4. Caring and formal educational settings are considered. Choirs may also apply.
5. Working with groups with mental health challenges and/or affected by loneliness/isolation – grants of up to £2,000 are available for community groups in deprived or marginalised areas to develop music education, providing music-making opportunities to those experiencing mental health challenges or those affected by loneliness or isolation.
The main aspects that the trustees look for in each application are:
1. The number of new musicians the project will create and support.
2. The sustainability of the project (to ensure that people are able to continue their musical journeys), and
3. Whether there are any other organisations supporting the project that can help with funding, or if funding applications have been made to other charities. (Music for All likes to help as many applicants as it can, so often works with other organisations to enable projects to gain the full support required.)
Further information, guidance and an online application for is available on the Music For All website.
The deadline for applications to Round 4, 2025 of the Fund is Wednesday 24th September 2025 at midday (12 noon).
