Ystradgynlais Older People’s Forum: Have Your Say Event

On 28th January 2025, Powys Older People’s Forum hosted a successful “Have Your Say” event at the Welfare Social Hub, Ystradgynlais. The event brought together over 40 residents, including Rhian Bowen-Davies, Older People’s Commissioner for Wales.
Rhian Bowen-Davies said: “It was wonderful to meet the residents here and to hear directly about issues affecting them.”
This engagement event is part of an ongoing initiative across Powys to gather feedback on services for people aged 60+, provided by the local authority, health board, and third sector organisations. The insights collected will be shared with the Older People’s Forum and contribute to Powys’ efforts to become an age-friendly community.
Meiriona Davies, Ystradgynlais Older People’s Forum Representative, also attended the event. She said: “I am so glad to see that our issues are being listened to and that we have the opportunity to speak to those who can make a change.”
A huge thank you to Rhian Bowen-Davies for taking the time to engage with residents and to the Welfare Social Hub, Ystradgynlais, for providing a fantastic community space.
Most importantly, thank you to all the residents who attended and shared their experiences—helping us gain a clearer picture of life in the community and how services can be improved for older people across Powys.
