THE SCREWFIX FOUNDATION (SPRING 2025 GRANTS ROUND)

Capital grants of up to £5,000 are available to local and national charities and not-for-profit organisations, including Community Interest Companies (CICs), across the UK to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and community facilities for people in need.

Who can applyUK registered charities and not-for-profit organisations for projects in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Applicants can include Community Interest Companies, Community Benefit Societies, Cooperative Societies and other forms of not-for-profit organisation.

Yeovil, Somerset-based the Screwfix Foundation provides grants up to £5,000 for capital projects with no matched funding requirement to UK registered charities and not-for-profit organisations to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and community facilities for people and communities in need. This can include repairing run-down buildings and decorating the homes of people living with illness and disability.

Projects, which should be environmentally friendly, should:

o Help people in need faced by financial hardship, sickness, distress or other disadvantages in the UK, and
o Support projects that relate to the repair, maintenance, improvement or construction of homes, community buildings and other buildings.

During the year ended 31st January 2024, the Foundation supported 405 (2023: 376; 2022: 395; 2021: 442) local charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK, awarding grants totalling £1,715,599 (2023: £1,676,551; 2022: £2,025,479; 2021: £1,871,775). The average grant made to local charities was £4,236 (2023: £4,458; 2022: £5,128; 2021: £4,235).

Local donations were made to charities in the following areas of the UK.

o England: £1,454,828 (2023: £1,466,982; 2022: £1,792,550).
o Scotland:
 £140,679 (2023: £75,445; 2021: £85,070).
o Wales: 
£54,899 (2023: £53,650; 2022: £74,942), and
o Northern Ireland: £140,679 (2023: £75,445; 2022: £72,917).

Funding is not available for:

o Individuals.
o IT equipment.
o Rent.
o Soft furnishing, 
or
o Staff training.

The Foundation has an application round every 3 months. Trustees meet to review applications in March, June, September and December. The next application deadline for the March 2025  grants panel is on Monday 10th February 2025.

Further application deadlines for 2025 are scheduled for:

o Saturday 10th May for the Trust’s June meeting.
o Sunday 10th August for the Trust’s September meeting,
 and
o Monday 10th November for the Trust’s December meeting.
