NHS Breast Screening Programme in Wales

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast screening saves lives

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK. Breast screening can save lives by finding breast cancer early, when cancers are too small to see or feel. Finding and treating breast cancer early gives you the best chance of survival.

If you are aged 50 up to 70, and are registered with your doctor’s surgery as female, you will be invited for an NHS breast x-ray every three years. You will receive your first invitation before your 53rd birthday. If you are aged 70 or over, you can ask for an appointment by contacting your nearest Breast Test Wales centre.
