FREE TRAINING – Understanding The Impact of Suicide or Suspected Suicide

This is free training; the design/ contents were commissioned by the NHS Executive. The training will be delivered by DPJ Foundation (agricultural prevention and bereavement charity) and Sandy Bear (children’s bereavement charity). This is ideal for anyone meeting or speaking to people bereaved by suicide (all age)
Unit 1: Understanding the Impact of Suicide or Suspected Suicide
This is the first unit of three in the Agored Cymru Level 2 Award: Responding to People Affected by Suicide or Suspected Suicide. This can be undertaken as a standalone session in this new accredited training developed by the NHS Executive in Wales and co-delivered by Sandy Bear and The DPJ Foundation.
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of the potential impact of suicide or suspected suicide on individuals, groups, and communities, the importance of appropriate responses, and how those affected may be able to access effective support and/or resources.
Who should attend this training?
This unit is aimed at anyone who is likely to come into contact with people affected by suicide or suspected suicide, such as those from community groups and third sector organisations through to professional agencies.
Learning outcomes for this unit:
The Learner will:
- Understand the prevalence of suicide or suspected suicide in Wales.
- Understand the impact of suicide or suspected suicide.
- Understand the importance of appropriate responses.
