Free in-depth evaluation for volunteer programmes

Do you run a volunteering programme in Wales that supports health, wellbeing or social care outcomes?
Helpforce Cymru Volunteering Outcomes Evaluation is a new pilot opportunity for voluntary and public sector organisations in Wales.
Successful applicants will receive six months of free expert support from Helpforce to better understand, measure and demonstrate the difference their volunteers make.
Applications open on 28 September 2026 and close on 19 October 2026.
WHY TAKE PART?
By the end of the programme, successful applicants will have:
- A clearer understanding of the difference volunteers make
- Robust evidence of impact to share with funders, partners and stakeholders
- Insights to help strengthen and develop their volunteering programme
Over six months, Helpforce will work alongside you to help understand, evidence, and strengthen the impact of your volunteering programme.
Successful applicants will receive:
- Free expert support from evaluation specialists
- Practical tools to gather evidence and feedback
- Analysis and insights into volunteer impact
- A report summarising the evaluation findings and a case study
- Evidence to support future planning, service development and funding applications
- Opportunities to learn from and share good practice
This opportunity is open to public and voluntary sector organisations in Wales whose volunteering programme:
- Has been operating for at least 12 months
- Supports people aged 18 and over
- Focuses on improving health, wellbeing and/or social care outcomes
- Demonstrates a commitment to learning and using evidence
- Normally involves at least 20 active volunteers*
Please ensure that you read the guidance for full eligibility criteria
*The active volunteer requirement is intended to ensure there is sufficient activity for a meaningful evaluation. Programmes with slightly fewer active volunteers may still be considered where there is strong potential for impact evaluation. We strongly encourage prospective applicants to attend an information session or contact us with any questions. Please read the application guidance for the full eligibility criteria before applying.
