Powys Volunteer of the Year Awards 2023

Celebrating outstanding volunteers across Powys and the special difference they have made in people’s lives!

The eleventh annual Powys Volunteer of the Year Awards took place on the 23rd March 2023, at the Elephant and Castle, Newtown. The celebration of volunteering was attended by volunteers and guests from around the county and was organised by Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO) in partnership with Tom Jones OBE, High Sheriff of Powys. Guests were entertained by West End stars Steffan Harri and Rosie Jones.

The celebration event goes some way to demonstrating the value placed on the work undertaken by volunteers. It encourages them to continue to inspire others to take up a cause in a society where volunteers are playing an ever increasing and ever more necessary role.

The awards recognising individual and group contributions to volunteering were presented by Tom Jones OBE, High Sheriff of Powys.

Clair Swales, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations said:“ The Powys Volunteer of the Year Awards recognises and celebrates the incredible contribution of volunteers from across Powys. Everyone who was nominated should be very proud of their achievements and I wish to extend my thanks to every volunteer across the County who give their time freely to support a range of activities in our communities. We hope this inspires many more people to volunteer. Even as simple as an hour or two a week can make a huge difference to people lives.”
