This training is also for those who want to drive minibuses for hire or reward, such as taxi drivers and small bus operators.

Before you can start your D1 training you need to get the D1 provisional category on your driving license;

1. Obtain forms D2 and D4 (we can email these links to you).
2. Book a PCV medical examination with your doctor. Take form D4 with you for the doctor to complete.
3. Send forms D2 and D4 with both parts of your photocard licence to the DVLA to get the D1 provisional category added to your licence.
4. Start studying for the theory and hazard perception tests. The necessary books and DVD’s can be supplied by PTTA if required.
5. When you have your licence and are confident with your preparation you can book the theory & hazard perception tests.
6. Start practical training with the minibus D1 test on the last day.

Note – if you need the D1 PCV as a professional driver you will also need to pass the CPC theory and practical modules.

We can supply the theory training materials and help with theory training if required, or you can purchase them yourself.

Training is delivered on a 1:1 or 2:1 trainee to instructor ratio, the standard course is based on 3 days of 1:1 training, but additional time or days training may be advised. Training is carried out in our vehicle, which meets all the requirements for the D1 PCV test.
