Cyber resilience support for the third sector in Wales
We’ve been hearing that many organisations across the sector have concerns about cyber resilience. To help, we’ve pulled together some useful resources and sources of support.
Cyber Resilience Centre for Wales (WCRC)
The Cyber Resilience Centre for Wales (WCRC) is a key cyber resilience resource for Welsh charities and third sector organisations. It’s a not-for-profit, police-led initiative that offers free core membership, practical guidance and affordable services to help organisations improve their cyber security.
Support available includes:
- Free membership with access to cyber scam alerts and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) guidance.
- Affordable vulnerability assessments and ethical hacking services.
- Staff awareness training and support delivered through the Cyber PATH programme, where university cyber security students work alongside experienced security professionals.
Business Wales National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) resources
The NCSC provides several free tools to help organisations strengthen their cyber security.
- Cyber Action Toolkit – a free, personalised tool designed to help small organisations identify and improve their cyber security measures.
- Exercise in a Box – a free online tool that enables teams to practise responding to realistic cyber attack scenarios and test their incident response plans.
Business Wales signposts organisations to government cyber security advice, guidance and support through its Cyber Advice Hub, helping organisations understand the steps they can take to improve their cyber resilience.
WCVA digital support
The Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) regularly offers digital development and cyber security training for voluntary organisations.
It’s also worth checking the WCVA website for grant funding opportunities to support IT improvements or achieve Cyber Essentials certification.

Reporting cyber crime
If your organisation experiences a cyber attack or fraud, you should report it to Action Fraud. Reporting an incident will provide you with an official police crime reference number and ensure the incident is investigated.

Taking a few simple steps now can significantly reduce your organisation’s cyber risk. Explore the resources above to get started.
