Aberystwyth University – Free Short Courses
The Fee Waiver Scheme that is currently available to individuals in Wales who would not otherwise have access to higher education including paid and unpaid carers.
Thanks to funding from Medr, we can allow eligible learners to study our short courses free of charge. Our new courses, starting in March, April and May 2026 are now available to book.
We’re asking for your help in informing relevant groups about this fantastic opportunity so that as many people as possible can take advantage of this free chance to gain valuable skills, knowledge, and qualifications.
Leaners must be living in Wales and must also meet at least one of the following conditions:
- the learner, or the learner’s family, is in receipt of Universal Credit or its predecessors; Jobseeker’s Allowance; Employment and Support Allowance
- the learner is in receipt of Carers allowance or carer’s credit; Disability premium or other disability-related financial support; Bereavement benefits
- the learner is from a group which is considered to be under-represented in higher education, such as:
- care leavers or care experienced learners
- learners with caring responsibilities including unpaid carers
- learners with disabilities
- learners from ethnic minority backgrounds
- LGBTQ+ learners
- refugees and asylum seekers
- those studying through the medium of Welsh
- leaners of all ages from areas in the bottom two quintiles of the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation 2019
