Peter Swanson

Peter, after an initial career in brewing, hotels & restaurants has been involved in the agriculture sector, spending over 40 years farming in Montgomeryshire as well as being director of various agricultural marketing co-operatives and a member of Wales Agricultural Board. He also found time to undertake a range of public and voluntary sector appointments. He was a Justice of the Peace for more than thirty years, serving as Chair of the Bench for four years. He served as a member of Dyfed Powys Health Authorities for eight years and chaired the Authority during that time.

Having an interest in education he has is a primary school governor, has been Governor of Coleg Powys, Board Member of Powys Training and Enterprise Council and the Powys Agricultural Training Committee. Peter is a private rental landlord in Newtown and was appointed as a Member of Mid-Wales Housing Association in 2012 and has been Chair of the Board since 2017, Peter is also a  Trustee of Citizen’s Advice Powys.
