The Walk presents a unique opportunity to raise awareness of veterans’ mental health issues, while at the same time offering veterans themselves the chance to take part in a memorable event.
The idea for the Walk of Memorable Honour came from the book Country of Memorable Honour by Thomas Firbank, which prompted the vision of a journey on foot from North to South Wales by veterans who had benefited from Armed Forces Covenant Trust Funding under the Positive Pathways scheme.
Rather than follow one single route, the ‘journey’ will begin at the home locations of 8 different partner organisations, who will concentrate their efforts during the week leading up to 17 Sep 22 in a journey equivalent to one eighth of the distance from Llandudno to Cardiff.
The walk will be around Llyn Clywedog, taking in Glyndwr’s Way and will be no more than 1 mile.
There will be media coverage of the event and Radiate Arts are looking to arrange transport to the celebratory event in Cardiff on 17th September for those who would like to attend.
