Social Care Wales have a new eLearning module.
The module is for workers and students in the social care and early years and childcare sector who wish to learn more about Welsh language, culture and working bilingually.
The module includes information about Welsh language and bilingualism, what the law says, and look at what we must do and why. The module also looks at the practicalities of working bilingually and what this means to people who use services, and what you can do to improve the experiences of individuals or children who receive care and support.
The module includes:
- the shadow of history (a brief history of the Welsh language)
- legislation and the active offer
- why using Welsh at work is important
- Home from home (a short film demonstrating the impact of dementia and the Welsh language)
- more resources to support language awareness and development
- next steps.
The module will take around 30 minutes to complete and it counts towards registered social care workers’ continuous professional development (1 hour) and everyone who completes it will receive a certificate.
