Supporting teenage relatives of cancer and palliative care patients

Virtual training day

Powys Teaching Health Board are very excited to invite you to an online training day delivered by Dr Karen Treisman, MBE, a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, trainer, author and director of www.safehandsthinkingminds.co.uk .

The training is available for anyone who provides support for adult cancer or palliative patients within Powys, and is focused around how we support teenage relatives of adults with a cancer or palliative diagnosis.

The full agenda is yet to be confirmed but topics such as communication skills, pre and post bereavement support and techniques to foster relationships with teenagers will be covered.

This training day is kindly supported by charitable funds donations made to PTHB in memory of Simon Tanner, many thanks to all who have donated towards his legacy. Simon’s family were extremely grateful for the support, respect, devotion and care that the team gave to Simon and wanted the donations to go to something that the team identified as increasing the offer of support we’re able to provide to families.

The virtual training will take place on Thursday 11th April 9:30-16:30.

Please contact  Louise.Hymers(at)wales.nhs.uk if you would like to attend.
