About 

Handpowerd is a small company offering small scale conservation land management and training courses in rural skills and practical land management. They are passinate about the use of traditional hand tools in managing landscapes for the future, seeing their value in connecting people to the areas in which they live, work and ultimately providing a viable alternative to the mechanised practices that have come to dominate our countryside.

They have received some grant funding to put on a number of free training days up until June 2023.

Courses

The dates for the free courses are:

16th June Learn to Scythe course, Newchapel, Llanidloes (Free). Course runs from 10:00-16:00.

18th June Meadows and Kites Festival, Newchapel, Llanidloes (Free)

One day of scything, hand hay making and meadow fun. Drop in sessions available throughout the day with various workshops and activities going on for all ages. There will be plenty of opportunity to scythe, socialise and learn more about how meadows function and the important role they play in the local ecology and culture.

30-31st July 2022 : Learn to scythe course, Newchapel, Llanidloes (Free)

Come and learn how to scythe with us. Course runs from 10:00-16:00.

27-28th August 2022 : Learn to scythe course, Newchapel, Llanidloes (Free)

Come and learn how to scythe with us. Course runs from 10:00-16:00

They will also be running free day courses on wooden rake making/ green wood working, hedge laying and coppicing/ sustainable woodland management throughout the autumn and winter with dates to be confirmed shortly.
