European Union Settlement Scheme training events

The training is open to anyone with an interest, either personally or professionally in providing assistance or support to EU citizens currently living in the UK (and therefore who may need help in applying for the scheme). It will also provide a general overview of the EUSS Scheme and will introduce trainees to the various organisations who may be able to help further.

You are invited to a series of online Zoom webinars, hosted by EYST in partnership with five delivery partners; TGP Cymru, Newport MIND, Citizens Advice Cymru, Settled and Newfields Law. The sessions are aimed at informing attendees about the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS), routes to access further tailored support and issues about the scheme. The webinars are open to EU, European Economic Area (EEA) and Swiss nationals, professionals engaging with EU/EEA/Swiss nationals, or anyone who may support EU/EEA/Swiss nationals they know.

Citizens of the EU, European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, and their family members who want to stay in the UK beyond 31 December 2020 will usually need to apply to the UK Government’s EU Settlement Scheme.

EU/EEA/Swiss citizens and their family members who have been continuously resident in the UK for five years for any period until the end of 31 December 2020 may apply for settled status. Obtaining settled status will secure rights to live, work, study and access benefits and/or services in the UK. Those who do not have continuous residency of five years will be eligible for pre-settled status. Only one day’s proof of residency in the UK in the last 6 months is needed for pre-settled status.

The information sessions will have the following structure: a presentation on the EUSS, followed by each partner introducing their organisation and detailing the services they offer, and finally a chance to discuss any specific issues in Breakout Rooms on Zoom.
