Carers Wales Webinar on Working Carers

Carers Wales would like to invite you to our forthcoming webinar on 18th March, from 10.30-11.30am.

We will be giving an overview of Carers Wales’ work in supporting working carers, unpaid carers who are balancing a caring role with paid work.

Supporting working carers is a key priority for Carers Wales in furthering our objective to make life better for carers.

We know from our research that working carers are the group least likely to seek out information and advice often missing out on support which could support them in their caring role. We also know from our Employers for Carers scheme established in 2009, that when carers are supported by their employers, they are able to juggle work and caring more effectively.

If carers are not supported, they are more likely to experience stress, have to reduce working hours, miss out on opportunities for professional development or even leave the workplace altogether – 1 in 6 leave work to care.

Since the start of the pandemic the number of carers balancing work and care has increased, so it is even more critical to ensure working carers are supported.

The agenda for the webinar is as follows:

10.30 – Welcome and introduction: Claire Morgan, Director

10.40 – Overview of policy context for working carers: Jake Smith, Policy Officer

10.50 – Carers Wales’ Working Carers Project and introduction to the support available: Jessica Hudson, Working Carers Project Manager

11 .05 – Employers for Carers: Overview of membership offer for Wales and the Carer Confident Accreditation Scheme: Jane Healey, Wales Hub Manager

11.15 - Question and answer session

11.30 – End
