Adventures in Nature is a project that aims to support the conservation of local biodiversity in the Welshpool area. We will be delivering a series of workshops, events and training sessions from now until March 2022. The project is funded by the Landfill Disposal Tax Communities Scheme. Keep checking back for information on current and future workshops and events.
The sessions will cover four themes:
– Earth sessions will focus on soil and plant biodiversity
– Water sessions will focus on the biodiversity of the canal and rivers that run through Welshpool and look at how we reduce our water usage and take care to not pollute our waters
– Air sessions will explore the importance of bugs and birds and how we can help them to thrive and their importance to our ecosystem
– Fire sessions will explore trees and creating dens and fires safely while exploring the importance of trees for nesting birds and other animals
Current Programme:
24 July – Canal & River Biodiversity - We’ll be exploring the wildlife and plants that exist around our local rivers. We’ll then get creative and make our very own water creatures. We will also explore the impact that human activities have on creatures who live in and around the waters.
31 July – Art with Natural materials and Bird Identification - We’ll be creating artworks from found natural materials and on our travels learn about how to identify birds.
7 Aug – Earth based stories and creative writing - Mother nature, ecology, animal stories, tree stories.
14 Aug – Breathing, singing, meditation - We will be looking at the power of our breath and how it influences our voice on our day to day basis. We will see what our voice, with the right amount of air, is capable of!
21 Aug – We are made of Water - We’ll be exploring our own bodies and what water does for it. How much is the human body made up of water? And how does water nourish fish and water creatures?
28th Aug – Tree planting and still life drawing - We’ll be planting trees in pots for you to take home, learn about identifying trees and how to care for them as well as learning still life drawing skills
