Wellbeing in Green Spaces - Where the Severn Smiles

A summer of free wellbeing workshops at the Oriel Davies Gallery Newtown.

The Oriel Davies Gallery is a partner on the Where the Severn Smiles project developed by Open Newtown and funded through the Welsh Government ENRaW fund.  As part of the project, which is running until the end of June 2023, the gallery, Cultivate and Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust will be delivering a series of regular wellbeing workshops in the town’s green spaces.

The gallery would like to reach out to people who could benefit from this kind of activity for their health and wellbeing.  The workshops run in blocks of six weeks with the group meeting once a week in the gallery space.  Each six week block is with a different artist or creative practitioner and participants can join for one block or keep returning.

The next six week block starts on 8th June and runs every Wednesday from 2-4pm until July 13th.  These workshops will be with Alice Savery, an artist with 12 years of experience as a Forest School leader, who will be looking at nature connection through being outside, drawing and other activities.

Following this the next blocks of workshops include: weaving with natural materials and charcoal making and drawing.
