Opening Doors, the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to supporting older LGBT+ people, closed permanently earlier this year.

Reengage will continue to help the legacy of Opening Doors live on by supporting older lonely or isolated LGBT+ people through their rainbow call companions service.

Opening Doors was proud to provide support, training and research specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, non-binary or gender fluid people (LGBTQ+) aged over 50. Its legacy is one of pride, awareness and a foundational platform for future advocacy. The work of the Opening Doors team not only highlighted the unique challenges older LGBTQ+ individuals face but also fostered a community of support and recognition.

We are immensely pleased that through Re-engage the legacy of Opening Doors will not be lost.”
