Citizens Advice Rhondda Cynon Taff and Citizens Advice Ynys Mon are currently providing free energy training sessions to frontline workers and community groups supporting members of the public across Wales. The aim of the training is to raise awareness of the support that’s available in local communities to ensure that people experiencing fuel poverty can access energy advice and support when they need it.
Around 155,000 households in Wales are living in fuel poverty, which equates to around 12% of all households in Wales. There are many factors that contribute towards fuel poverty, with the main three being: the price that people pay for their energy, people’s household incomes and the energy efficiency of their homes.
This free training offer is available for a short period of time, until 31st March 2022 and will cover:
- The effect of fuel poverty on health
- The energy crisis
- Accessing welfare benefits and grants
- Priority Services Register
- Payment methods
- Behavioural change
- Energy Efficiency advice
- Local Emergency Support schemes and help
- Supporting people with fuel debt
